Conviction

Yesterday I got a notification from my internet service provider, reminding me to renew a domain: thesleuth.co

It's official: I've been writing this newsletter for 12 months — starting in the depths of a bear market and when the price of SOL was at $13.

I'll be real with you: It wasn't easy.

But I had conviction.

Not just in the technical fundamentals of Solana, but in newsletters as a platform as well.

In the digital age, there’s an overwhelming amount of content vying for attention.

This abundance can lead to information overload and make it challenging to differentiate noise from value.

Moreover, most of what happens in crypto takes place on X. As we all know, however, Crypto X is fast-paced, information gets lost in the ether quickly — even when we try to bookmark as much as we can.

As such, discoverability remains a challenge in crypto.

My goal was and is to change just that.

Consequently, I launched The Sleuth as a weekly curation of the most relevant developments in the Solana ecosystem and beyond — delivered to your inbox for convenience.

When The Sleuth launched at the beginning of December 2022, no one was interested — the churn rate was high, the open rate was terrible.

Today, approximately 3,000 subscribers receive The Sleuth — weekly.

The readership encompasses blue chip builders from Ethereum, Solana, Monad, Sui, and Aptos.

Additionally, I count myself lucky that The Sleuth has a large following among researchers, journalists, and media personalities from Messari, Nansen, Bankless, Coin Bureau, NFT Now/Now Media, rug(dot)fm, Bloomberg, FT, CoinDesk, Cointelegraph, The Block, Blockworks, and Morning Brew — to name but a few.

Lastly, investors and KOLs from e.g. a16z, Coinbase, Gauntlet, Electric Capital, Collab+Currency, Robot Ventures, Maelstrom, Galaxy, Delphi Digital, Seven Seven Six, Variant, Placeholder, 6th Man Ventures, Asymmetric, and Global Macro Investor read The Sleuth to keep tabs on new developments within the Solana ecosystem.

I’m grateful for every single one of you — thank you so much for your unwavering support!

Here are the most read posts from the last 12 months:

So, what's next?

Until now, the lion share of the community was manually invited — which allowed for the creation of a curated and bespoke core readership to validate the vision.

The foundation has been laid.

Up next: Significantly growing the subscriber base — onboarding even more crypto-natives and people from outside crypto in order to bring self custody to as many people as possible.

Stoked!

By the way, The Sleuth probably has one of the most extensive Solana content catalogues in the industry — ranging from technical fundamentals to DeFi and NFTs. Here's how you can search through the archive both effectively and efficiently:

  • Head over to Google and type in “site:thesleuth.co [keyword]”

  • Choose a post you’d like to read and click through

  • Next, hit "Command+F" or "Control+F" and key in the keyword

  • Enjoy the read!

The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence. It is to act with yesterday's logic.
