How To Short NFTs, MetaMask vs. Apple, Hyperdrive Top 9 & More

Also: Solana-native USDT & USDC now live on OKX.

Welcome back!

This is J264G and this week I’ve got these titbits for you:

  • Hyperdrive: The top 9 projects of Solana’s latest hackathon.

  • Muscle Flexing: Implications of MetaMask’s Apple App Store ban.

  • Shorting NFTs: Sujiko, a NFT perpetual futures DEX, now on Mainnet.

Everyone makes mistakes.

In the last couple of days, we’ve seen multiple web3/crypto media outlets do just that.

Sure, I’m aware of the codes of ethics for journalists and reporters, but regardless, we’re all human.

Having said that, it's not about mistakes per se, but rather how one owns up to them, i.e. the way one takes on accountability and ownership to raise the bar.

Unfortunately, this is where most publications fall short.

Going forward, I hope this changes and that we see web3/crypto journalists and reporters do the hard work properly and with grace, while avoiding twaddle and pseudo-intellectual babble.

Enough of that, let’s get going!

Hyperdrive Hackathon

Solana's latest hackathon has come to an end.

This is the perfect time to look at 9 of the most promising projects.

(1) Alexandria: A dynamic trade routing protocol that navigates multiple orderbooks, ensuring users receive the best market price across diverse asset pairs seamlessly and without added fees.

(2) Codigo: A developer tool that generates secure production-ready code in seconds, bringing about a seamless coding experience and reducing dependency headaches.

(3) assisterr: AI co-pilot that helps sidestep time-consuming information retrieval processes by providing accurate and contextually relevant information — thus enhancing developer productivity.

(4) Firethree: As we all know, Firebase provides detailed documentation and SDKs that help developers build and ship apps for iOS, Android, Unity, and more. Firethree aims to do something similar for Solana by enabling developers to create dApps incl. the required collections, storage, analytics, and hosting — all in one go.

(5) Lamport Center: Infrastructure that enables protocols to cover transaction costs for their users. In case a protocol team chooses to do so, their users do not need to have any SOL in their wallets to interact with their dApp — significantly reducing the onboarding friction and enhancing user stickiness.

(6) Interbeam: What if you could migrate liquidity directly from an Ethereum dApp to a Solana dApp? Cue: Interbeam ⚡

(7) SolPal: Chrome extension that simplifies technical jargon on Crypto Twitter/X so that your nan can understand all things web3/crypto.

Also, make sure to check out both (8) MoonGate and (9) Surfer which we mentioned in previous newsletters.

Chart Of The Week

News Bites

Muscle Flexing: Over the weekend, Apple took out the MetaMask app from its app store for a couple of hours — without an explanation. During this time, wallets such as Phantom were still available in the App Store, however, this shows that regardless of whether a service is decentralised or not, it remains at the mercy of Apple’s and Google’s policies and guidelines.

Shorting NFTs: Sujiko — a DEX for NFT perpetual futures — has gone live on Mainnet. Traders can now long and short ETH and SOL NFT collections with leverage and as little as $1.

Dollar Acceleration: USDT and USDC on Solana are the fastest and most efficient way of sending money from A to B. Now, OKX has announced that the exchange will support Solana-native USDT and USDC as well, which might just accelerate the onboarding of larger parts of Asia.

Smooth Operator: Solana developers have introduced a way to make Anchor programs even more efficient, improving compute units and memory usage in the process as well.

Technical Gibberish: It seems the Solana community has been successful in nudging Anatoly to write long-form content. The articles will be hosted on Sollinked and accessible through a monthly subscription.
