ETHDenver Cringe

ETHDenver, the birthplace of cringe.

Apart from the questionable humour, I simply don't get it.

  • First, every blockchain has its strengths and weaknesses.

  • Second, different blockchains optimise for different use cases.

  • Third, the aim should be to promote self custody and censorship resistance — together.

I'll be real with you, I'm tired of maxis, infighting, and tribalism.

These factors are a major distraction that take the focus away from important tasks and objectives.

I'll repeat: self custody and censorship resistance.

Moreover, infighting and tribalism are a waste of valuable resources, including time, money, and talent — all which should be leveraged to build products and service with PMF, and to onboard more users.

Worst of all, web3/crypto media (our allies) have chosen sides — they glorify some blockchains and FUD others — all due to infighting and tribalism. This is more a function of our behaviour among each other, web3/crypto media simply amplifies it.

The crux is, web3/crypto is tiny — both in terms of market cap and active users.

This self-destruction needs to stop.

Both Ethereum and Solana are known for their respective innovations.

Ethereum is the OG, no questions asked.

But Solana has its rightful place as well.

We need more acceptance and collaboration, so that unique perspectives, skills, and experiences can be shared. Only by doing so, Ethereum, Solana, and other blockchains can push each other beyond their limitations and come up with solutions that may not have been possible otherwise.

Also, collaboration can help build relationships and create a sense of community. By working together, we can create a stronger and more united community that advocates for the benefits of blockchain technology and promotes its adoption.

I'd rather share my Ledger seed phrase than see another of those ETHDenver clips. I hope we get past this phase and can collectively bring self custody and censorship resistance to the masses.

Charts Of The Week

News Bites

Going Mainstream: The Coinbase wallet now allows users to explore and trade Solana NFTs and tokens. The NFT integration is in partnership with MagicEden, and the token integration in collaboration with Jupiter. Integrate your dApp with Coinbase Wallet today!

Telegram DeFi: Last week we showed you how to send SPL tokens via Telegram. Vyper, a Solana DEX, is taking the next step and will soon enable users to build and trade derivatives within Telegram.

Solana Gaming: Unity can be used to create 2D and 3D games, as well as interactive simulations and experiences. Now, the Solana SDK for Unity has been released, simplifying the process of building web3 games and experiences on Solana.

Developer Platform: Lancer allows you to assign a reward to a GitHub issue and pay it out when the pull request is merged. While the pull request is being worked on, funds are held in escrow.

Developer Resources: SolDev has been redesigned and now makes it easier for developers to stay up-to-date on all coding news and developments in the Solana ecosystem.

Light Client: Compared to full nodes, light clients provide a much better UX while letting end-users access the blockchain in a decentralised and secure manner. That’s what Tinydancer, the first light client on Solana, has set out to achieve.

Blockchain Transparency: XRAY is building a human-readable transaction explorer for Solana. Transactions are broken up and grouped into easy to read actions, allowing for a better understanding and more actionable insights.

Solana 🤝 WordPress: ~ 40% of all websites are built using WordPress. WooCommerce, one of the most popular WordPress plug-ins, turns websites into fully fledged ecommerce stores. Helio now supports Solana payments on WooCommerce, which will allow customers to pay for goods and services with USDC using their favourite Solana wallet.

The Superteam Touch (TST): Countries in which a Superteam operates are overrepresented at Grizzlython. 5/6 of the top 6 countries (based on the number of registered developers) have a Superteam — highlighting the importance of this particular Solana community.

SOL-USDC Options: DeCalls will be launching SOL-USDC options, which will further diversify the DeFi landscape on Solana and might foster some positive competition with Zeta.
