Unibot On Solana, Backpack Goes Global & More
Also: The OPOS hackathon goes live with 25 tracks.
Welcome back!
This is J264G and this week I’ve got these titbits for you:
Solana Unibot: Fluxbot, Solana's version of Unibot, goes live.
Token2049: Backpack will be at Token2049 promoting mass adoption.
OPOS: Solana's newest community hackathon launched with 25 tracks.
PayPal has 426 million users.
And now the behemoth from San Jose has launched its own stablecoin — hard to imagine that it won’t be successful.
Why? 👇
Once you know how to build distribution, you can build anything else.

Web3/crypto still needs to fully grasp this — as discussed in our content flywheel spotlight.
The sooner web3/crypto teams understand the power of distribution, the sooner we’re able to move this industry forward 🫡
Now, let’s get into it!

Scaling Developer Onboarding
Growth requires nurturing.
Thus, if we want the Solana ecosystem to grow, we need to create low-friction on-ramps for developers from Solidity, Rust, C, and other communities. Additionally, we need to attract developers from other places than our web3/crypto bubble.
One of the incredible things about Solana is it doesn't "run in Rust" like many people think. It compiles down to LLVM – meaning it's possible to build a front-end that lets developers program in any language 🤯

But convincing someone to change their career trajectory can be difficult.
First, we'd need to understand their motivations, frustrations, and aspirations to gain insight into their perspective. Second, we'd have to encourage them to reflect on their long-term goals and passions and help them identify whether their current career aligns with their values and what they genuinely enjoy doing. Third, we should present potential career options that align with their strengths and interests — such as personal growth, increased job satisfaction, or higher earning potential.
This is the bare minimum, though.
We'd also have to do the following:
Address Concerns and Fears: Acknowledge any concerns or fears they may have and discuss possible solutions to mitigate risks, such as upskilling, networking, or mentorship.
Offer Support and Resources: Offer support throughout their career transition journey. Provide resources, recommend relevant courses or workshops, and connect them with other developers.
Provide Real-Life Examples: Share success stories of developers who have successfully transitioned to Solana. Hearing about others' experiences can be motivating and inspire confidence.
Encourage Small Steps: Suggest taking small steps toward the new career while maintaining their current job. This can involve volunteering, freelancing, or working on side projects to gain experience.
yeah I'm more thinking of it from the frame of classic sales
first reduce friction as much as possible to encourage playing around and even considering a switch
if they find they love the runtime, they'd want to switch to rust anyway after some time

Answer The Basics: In order to exponentially grow the developer ecosystem on Solana, we also need to have answers ready for the most basic questions.
@0xMert_@SuperteamDAO@hackerhouses Happy to help!
The only info needed:
➡️ why should non-idealistic devs pivot to building on blockchains?
➡️ why should devs quite their jobs as web3 funding seems to have dried up?
➡️ from 1-10, how difficult is it for Rust & non-Rust devs to become full Solana devs?— J264G (@J264G)

In this context, Superteam and Hackerhouses are doing a phenomenal job.
My only concern is that the IRL approach may not scale as well.
If we want the developer ecosystem on Solana to scale swiftly, we also need a digital approach and meet web2 devs where they are.
That's the real unlock.
Let's go big!
I think the easiest meme that we can create for non native crypto users is that crypto, unlike a bank, doesn’t have any monthly account fees or overdraft fees, and never will.

Frictionless Onboarding: Speaking of breaking out of our echo chamber, Tristan will be at Token2049 talking about bringing in new users to web3/crypto by making the onboarding as frictionless as possible through Backpack.
Looking forward to moderating this panel of industry leaders at @token2049

Community Hackathon: The Only Possible on Solana (OPOS) hackathon with thousands of USDC in prizes has gone live with 25 tracks. It will run until the 21st of August.
The moment has arrived.
The Only Possible on Solana (OPOS) Hackathon is now live.
TL;DR — pick from over 25 tracks from Solana's finest teams, build cool things, get paid, make a name for yourself, and drive change.
Build the future of crypto and Solana.

Silicon Valley BONK (SVB): The Bonk team has released SVB — an on-chain gaming experience with a simple premise: Be the last to buy a key, unlock the vault, and win the grand prize.

Marinade Native: Institutional investors tend to avoid the smart contract risk associated with liquid staking. For this reason, over 97% of all staked SOL — $8.1 billion — is currently staked natively with individual validators. Staking natively, however, can be bothersome, involve commission rugging, and introduce slashing risks. This is why Marinade Native combines the delegation strategy concept of liquid staking with the non-custodial benefits of native staking.

@aeyakovenko I am from Ethereum but have been playing close attention to Tolys comments and responses for a while now and even I dont understand most stuff he says, I can say for certainty that he never gets dunked on. Been buying some SOL as a result.

We focus so much on US-crypto-this, and US-crypto-that. It's nice to sometimes zoom out and remember...
